Positive Thinking Transcends Space and Time

How to Think positive about the future and get a head start

In order to live fully in the present remember the past

Positive thinking transcends space and time means you can anticipate and imagine the future. That is not out of the ordinary nor an interpretation of metaphysics in any way. This is career planning which is future planning. You want your career to be positive so it’s only natural that you want the future to be positive. As you think about careers you think about the future. With good planning and visioning of what you want your career to be you are more likely to make it happen. If you clearly think about it happening and anticipate the things that you need to do to make it happen, it will.

Positive thinking and the nature of space and time

According to Stephen Hawking the renowned English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author, “One has to have a positive attitude and must make the best of the situation that one finds oneself in”. Positive thinking is echoed in his warnings to the civilization he left behind. Will it make it to the next level to succeed? With some positive thought planning for the circumstances surrounding existential threats, there will always be hope. Enough to let go and trust? We’ll see.

Hawking seemed to echo Albert Einstein who stated “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” I refer to the miracle aspect in Be Positive and Make Good Things Happen “We just happened to be in a Goldilocks kind of situation where we’re on the right Rock which is the right distance from the right star at the right time in its existence.”

At the right time on that wobbly continuum of space-time. Like a big rubber sheet with a huge yellow star sinking in the middle and the earth wobbling around it. The nature of our space and time is this. The earth rotates counterclockwise around the sun which spins around amongst billions of stars in just one galaxy of possibly trillions.

Earth does this amongst 7 other planets and almost 2 million asteroids. Each with their own place on the sheet. That’s where we find ourselves. This is our space and time. To transcend space-time is to imagine a future place along earth’s path where what you want happens.

What does positive thinking transcends space and time mean?

Positive thinking transcends space and time means that positive thoughts placed in a future time and space can become real. Not just any thoughts but the ones that really have a chance to succeed in our physical world. For example, I might wish and think positively to be an NFL star but realistically I am so far removed from such an idea that achieving it would require an extraordinary amount of circumstances.

Positive thinking transcends space and time works for those things which we have the most control over. Our physical bodies, our educational goals, our career goals, even our goals in love. Those kinds of things that we can truly influence and know best what it will take to achieve them. Some will be much harder than others but they’re practical starting points for how to begin to positive think and allow for the possibility that what you’re wishing can be achieved. Provided you pay the dues.

Does positive thinking matter?

Your positive thoughts are abstract and can surpass any limitations provided by nature. Specifically, positive thinking transcends space and time. Time and space flow continuously forward and we as humans have the fortunate ability to foresee and plan for the future through trends and analysis of information. The future has not yet happened but we know it will. Positive thinking transcends space and time if you practice it. When we take time to think about it we see images of our expectations, hopes and dreams, and fears. With a little practice, we can learn to concentrate more on efforts today to bring about the future we prefer for tomorrow. Greater focus and dedication to the preferred future is required to make it real. Positive thinking transcends space and time can be something to focus on.

Does love transcend space and time?

According to interpretations and experiments in quantum physics, the answer may very well be yes. Entanglement theory predicts that particles will react the same way when either close to each other or at tremendous distances. We can feel the love of another on the other side of the world. What is that? It is something bigger than we can truly understand let alone control. Now take a moment to think of its potential. All the love in the world. It’s staggering to consider the enormous amounts of this communicating happening. The entire planet is alive and kicking with it and we’re part of it but not usually aware.

Love can be felt with the same amount of force when those we love are far or near. The movie Interstellar presents love to ponder in a new light. In it, the scientist Brand is defending her theory of love as a force, not an abstract thought. “Maybe it means something more, something we can’t yet understand. Maybe it’s some evidence, some artifact of a higher dimension that we can’t consciously perceive. I’m drawn across the universe to someone I haven’t seen in a decade, who I know is probably dead. Love is the one thing we’re capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space. Maybe we should trust that, even if we can’t understand it.”

Isn’t this positive thinking? If we can be willing to believe that love conquers all, love has no boundaries. Why not the same for positive thinking transcends space and time which in a sense is love.

Can positive thinking transcend space and time?

Positive thinking about the future is a conscious recognition that the future is only what we imagine it to be in our present. Nothing in reality exists except the present. Here is one of my favorite quotes from Alan Watts the famed American philosopher “I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.” How we react to the present is what will lead to our future. To live in the present requires an appreciation for the lessons of the past and the hopes of the future. Those hopes like love, like positive thoughts, have nothing to hold them back. They are not bound by the normal laws of nature we know and can lead you on a course to fulfillment.

Probable, Possible, Preferred – Your Future Awaits

Positive thinking focussed correctly and accurately can result in actions you take to distinguish your future by molding it today. Glen Hiemstra is an internationally respected expert on future trends, long-range planning and creating the preferred future. He stated that the future can be what we do. There are things about the future that we can see now if we look closely enough. His book the Turning the Future Into Revenue: What Business and Individuals Need to Know to Shape Their Futures opened my eyes further into what I thought I knew about planning for the future.

The future planning exercises, tools, and activities I learned from that book influence how I carry out my plans today.  The centerpiece of what I learned is that the future is defined by our influence today. The clearer I can describe my preferred future the easier it becomes to distinguish from a future that can be pressed onto me if I fail to take action or not strong enough action. Hiemstra explains that there are three futures we can have. The probable, the possible and the preferred. By practicing positive thinking transcends space and time your preferred future will become real.

The probable future

In my first post 5 Career Hacking Secrets For College Students Without A Plan I mention how I came across the computer in 1980 and was convinced it was going to be a tool to be used for the rest of my life. It seemed very probable to me that the world would be filling up with computers and it would be a good idea to earn how to use them. If I would have ignored the news of the computer I might never have moved beyond having a small income and knowing much less about the world.

I also mention the need for inspiration. Our purpose as humans is to keep this planet alive while we have the power to do so. Many existential threats face humanity and to the earth, most are not new. The BBC does a great job of this with a chart titled the Ultimate guide to the end of the world. I put this under probable because I just want to focus on the threats that humans can address directly. If we do nothing then it is quite probable that the consequences of these events will probably ruin our freaking lives. They include honey bee extinction, weapons of mass destruction, soil erosion, climate change, and technology run amok.

The possible future

Is a set of alternative scenarios that have the likelihood of happening. As some time passed and I learned more about computers I began to wonder how I might use them in work. Before I thought too much about it I found myself using computers to get things done in dozens of different jobs over the past 30 years. If I had limited my knowledge of computers my career would have been limited as well. By opening a door to learning a new tool the possible jobs I could take increased tremendously. Technology in this case and learning increased the possible futures that were available to me.

In my first post on this site, The Robotics Advancement Is Here I explain the possibilities that the future holds for Artificial Intelligence and with advancements in software and robotics. An average read of the daily news contains more and more information about developments, jobs threatened and implications for the meaning of work in the future. To an open mind, it is quite possible that our future will have many more robots and AI integrated into our daily lives. What possibilities does that open for you?

A Preferred future

is the future that you want to happen. A future that you can picture in your mind and describe what it looks and feels like. It is based on revised values, innovation, and new technology. Along the way, I never gave up on my main career goal. In my case, my preferred future at one point was to be an IT salesperson in Japan. As I gained experience and knowledge I could better focus my activities and thoughts on a future that was more sustainable, of higher quality, and happier than what came before. It’s possible to avoid problems by focussing very clearly on the future you prefer. Of course, not everything can be planned so be prepared for surprises and unforeseen challenges.

Transcending takes time

for me at least. Some of the goals I had to set for myself required a bit of long-term creativity. I had just seen the power of positive thinking at work in a short period of time. But once I found myself in the army I knew I needed a plan of how to eventually leave. I thought it would take four years before I would return to university but it was just three. Again the power of positive thinking at work. Accepting and moving forward sometimes creates shortcuts that otherwise would be hidden. From the army to Japan was another 3 years of planning of doing and thinking. From landing in Japan to getting that first real sales job was another three years and so on. Taking time is good. It’s good to know where you’re headed but you must be surprised and stop and smell the roses.

How to practice Positive Thinking Transcends Space and Time?

Begin each new day with a conscious effort to not rush. Allow for 20 minutes after you wake to conduct this practice. Get a pen and a notebook. When ready sit where you are comfortable. I prefer to sit with my legs outstretched on a mat in the morning. This helps to stretch and awaken my lower back and legs which are usually stiff from sleeping. After a few minutes, move to a comfortable sitting position or chair. If you can be in a sunny room all the better. *

Take deep breaths in through your mouth and out through your nose. Breathe deep and slowly. Become aware of your breathing. Allow no other thoughts in your mind. This is all about you, your body and your connection to your surroundings. Feel your chest rise. Say positive thinking transcends space and time.

Think of one new thing that you are grateful for. Say it out loud and write it down. Continue deep breathing. Think of one thing you want to happen today and why it is good. It can be a long-term goal that you practice thinking positively on daily for a while. What are you going to do to make it happen? Say it out loud and write it down.

Take 3 more deep breaths. Only think of your breathing.

Breath normally and go about your day. Do you feel better than when you began the practice? Write it down. Let me know if this makes any difference in your day.
