Plan Your Preferred Future

Preferred Future

For my preferred future, I concentrate on human design and the ethical alignment of intelligent and autonomous machines.

The word prepper for me comes from my early days as a boy scout. We were trained to be prepared for accidents, emergencies, and disasters. It was mostly long and boring, especially for a teen. Over time I became very grateful for that training and much more I received over the years. There have been numerous times where I provided first aid and more.

Today when I hear or say the word prepare or prepper it seems to be a turn-off for most people. Prepping and being Prepared Is LOVE.

I’m Prepper21

Preparing for success in the 21st century that’s the only thing that we need to accept is our responsibility. Where do you really want to be in life by 2030? Do not ignore the trends or risk getting run over by them. This is a brief intro into my experience working and identifying trends and including them in my life plans to land on the other side thriving as a result of those trends.

Most if not all of mine YouTube videos or about gardening growing food beekeeping etc and a reason for that is because there’s going to be a huge trend for self-production of sustenance. If we leave it to others we’ll end up eating crickets and cockroaches and that is no joke.

On our journey together we’ll be learning how to make those trends a part of our life so we can ride the wave rather than get swept underneath. Two years ago I posted about the rise of robotics and that the tsunami was coming. SARS COV2 and resulting disease COVID19 has accelerated this trend!

Long ago I began a journey of following trends and identifying where I wanted to be as a result of where I thought the future might go. Prepping for the journey was as simple as opening my imagination and learning about the world. The hard part was determining what to focus on with so many possibilities. What would be my Preferred Future versus the possible or the probable future?

Made In The USA

In 1992 I read many articles and books about a trend where Japan was being identified as an adversary in trade and I began to focus on selling something Made In The USA in Japan as my new quest.

The quest came to me in Kansas as I was Preparing to be honorably discharged from the US Army.  Three years later I flew to Tokyo and started out teaching English to Japanese professionals. The “School” was on the 6th floor of the Parco Shopping Mall between a video arcade and a movie theater. That job lasted a year but I moved up and stayed in Japan for eight more.

A journey of 5 different jobs during that time took me all over Japan and even to Singapore. In November 1998 I met the quest by making my first sale of “Made In The USA” Micron Electronics PC’s. That journey helped me understand the trends unfolding at the time. The Internet dawned on the Japanese and a Tsunami of opportunity and challenge was coming fast. I got carried away with the trends of communications and information and knowledge management.

It wasn’t easy and there were lots of knocks on the head but somehow I ended up at NTT Communications in Tokyo as an international account manager providing IT services to multinational corporations.

Trends 2000 – 2008

That job and the others that preceded it allowed me to see that Japan was a follower, not a leader. Then 911 happened and I began to question the true benefit of working for NTT.  I Prepared plans to move back to the United States and thought it would be easy. I was engrossed in the technological advances happening at the time and began to focus on how I could contribute. However, the search for a place to contribute was long, arduous, and expensive. After 18 months it was successful and I have been working at the National Science Foundation since 2003.

Back in the USA after 9 years in Japan was a bit of reverse culture shock. In addition to chicken being the most popular entre everywhere, I was shocked by the Housing Market. My wife saw the troubles Japan experienced in their markets before I arrived and was skeptical from the start. I tracked and analyzed the housing market in-depth and regardless of the temptation at the time, we lived in an apartment for 6 before buying.

In 2008 as the financial crisis of the time was rolling through markets I spent several weeks creating what I thought might be the trends coming over the next 10 to 20 years. We purchased our home in 2009 and if we didn’t do it then we never would have been able to. Besides the financial trends that I saw and sought shelter from there were many more foreboding trends to come.

Trends 2008 – 2030

In the next post, I will list 2008 -2030 that I foresaw. I will also include those trends I did not foresee that have come to pass or overwhelm us today.

Meanwhile, here are three books that may help you create and understand your life plan and what you need to do to make it happen. if you don’t plan your preferred future then someone else will!
